MI Project - Heroes

This project based on songs and a movie to analyse the idea of hero in our time.
Here are two support charts for the activity:
The 'Heroes Text' brings a lot of characteristics for comics heroes which must be organized in the chart on the top of the page, the chart is already filled. http://pt.scribd.com/doc/114747082

The document 'Important characteristics for a hero' is a chart for the students to vote in the most imprtant ones for some one to be clamed a hero http://pt.scribd.com/doc/114747077

A sequence for that analysis is to find historical people who had those powers. e.g. Jesus Christ could read people's minds, Ghandy had a super psycological strength.

What is a hero?Apr 28, '11 8:57 AM

What is a "hero" for you?

In my opinion there are two types of hero: human hero and super hero.
Human hero does not have super powers and the pe
rson is good, is not selfish, saves people in some cases, helps others.
Super hero has super powers and is a cartoon, examp
le: Superman, Batman, Spiderman, and others.

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE POINTS OF BEING A SUPER HEROES
Positive points - Power to fly, much stronger, to be admiredsave people...

Negative points - double life, can not use his powers in publiclives aloneare constantly attacked for being superheroes, stress, conflict within yourselfrelationships are difficult...

Analysis of the movie Unbreakable
Characteristics of old comics (classic description of the good and evil):
In the antique editions of comics the chin of heroes was square and the head of villains was too big to the original size (have a disproportional head).
The square chin represents the American will to draw perfectly and it makes the character more masculine. The inspiration of the comics heroes is based in the old Greek art.
The characters that have a big head are soldiers, and the characters that have big eyes are super-villains.
The big eyes mean that they have an abnormal way of seeing the world.
There are 2 types of villains: soldier villains that fight the hero with his hands (body); and the villains that fight the hero with his mind (intelligence).

The characters:

David Dunn-Bruce Willis: He is security in a stadium of football. He is married and has a son.
He was a football player, but an accident changed his life forever. Another accident 12 years later, that kill 131 passengers (all the passengers), but David has survived and he discovers that he has never got sick and he can’t break his bones.

Larissa:  This character rediscovered the sense of his existence. He seemed apologetic of his choices, mainly because he gave up the brilliant career of football player. So, he develop abilities that he did not know that he had.

Gabrielly: David has characteristics of a comics hero. He is unbreakable, invisible, very strong, and he can see the past.

Elijah Price-Samuel L. Jackson: He is an art comics collector. He has a sickness that makes his bones weak and when he was a child he was called “Mr. Glass”.

Gustavo: I found in the movie racism scenes, because Elijah tells that the heroes are the opposite of villains, Elijah is black and David is white. Another thing that I perceived is that Elijah kills a lot of people because he suffered bullying when he was a child.

Larissa: This character tried to discover somebody that can be opposite of him (strong/unbreakable) because he believed that this way he would know who he is. It could explain his existence and his suffering. Moreover he could prove to himself that he is correct in his theory: the characters of comics are based on real people, on true life.

Ellen: he discovered that comics are art. The abilities of comics heroes are exaggeration of what appears in real life.
